My Happy Place is a delicatessen located on the Gulf Coast that is within walking distance to the beaches of Redington Shores. Breakfast, lunch and specialty drinks are sold there through walk-up or exterior seating on the elevated concrete deck. A.T. was responsible for the construction of the site and the 800 sq. ft. building. The building was designed with unique features to create an Island Tiki Hut atmosphere that serves beach cuisine. These features include a simulated thatched roof, raised stamped concrete patio that imitates wood dock planks, and exotic island landscaping. Due to the project’s location within a flood zone and with the desired building elevation, there were rigorous structural and waterproofing design requirements. Surface-mounted flood panels were also required at all exterior doors and windows to allow the building to meet the flood zone requirements.
